I think we've gone to Mt. Ranier twice and to the Leavenworth area once. Last time we discussed it (three summers ago) we kicked around the idea of going to a campground at the Gorge near Bonneville Dam. Then Liz's family and mine headed to the East Coast instead. Without us being present, naturally no one else wanted to get together.
We enjoyed lobster w/the Sullivans in Maine w/o you guys!! The Winthrop area is gorgeous, as is the Olympic Penninsula. (Remember camping at Klalock when we were kids?) Vancouver Island has a lot to offer, as does the rest of B.C. Jacquie and I and our kids go two or three times a year to Cannon Beach where we stay in a house on the beach that belongs to friends. The setting where we stay is pretty remote (from the crowd) and is a bit of paradise and there are a number of houses closeby that could be rented although they are pretty spendy.
I suggest that we set aside a time that works for the greatest number of interested family members and then decide on a place. My gang doesn't think traveling 6-7 hours to a good spot is any big deal, provided we're going to stay for at least 3 nights!
Let's first nail down the weekends that won't work for a family campout. The things that I can think of that are on the calendar for next summer are the proposed Sullivan family reunion and the boat races.

Any weddings in the works? (If so, no need to divulge the secrets yet - we'll plan around you Joe, Colleen, Dom, Caitlin, whoever!)
Your thoughts?

Great idea, again, Dan...count us in. The only thing we ussally do is celebrate St. Ignatius Day 31 July, with my Uncle and family.
I am concerned that we don't tread on Jimmy and Ed's special gathering next year so if you square with them, we'll make it work for us.
Thanks a lot, Dan,
Bill
First, may I just say fanTAStic post, Uncle Dan. You've taken proper Blogger formatting and given everyone else an example on how to properly integrate pictures with text. Well done!
To the point, I am in full support of a family campout and have no conflicting weekends other than the ones already mentioned by you.
Also big props to Uncle Bill for being so sensitive to the needs of our sensitive relatives Ed and Jimmy. We all know that Uncle Bill is known for his compassionate nature, and this just goes to show why.
I'm in!
if Boo is, then I am DOWN!
Hey, I think that's a fantastic idea! I'll be there! (I only work 3 days a week!!!) Maybe, Uncle D. you should set up a vote on this blogger where you pick five sites and five dates that people can vote on. Give a date when you have to vote by and then on that date take the highest votes and call and reserve some sites!!! (???) Tryin' to be proactive here... I'm really going to be mad if we don't have some sort of gathering next summer.
As for the last paragraph of uncle Dan's blog, I will not be getting married next summer. :( SOMEONE seems to think that would be too soon to tie the knot....... haha!
Good idea on the vote suggestion, Caitlin. Perhaps we can have a discussion on the boat heading north in three weeks and then I'll put out the ideas for discussion among the rest of the gang.
And great idea not to get married too soon. It's about the best institution ever invented but there's a lot a person should do before taking that lifetime plunge. You're going to live to be 100+, you know!!
Your wise uncle.
We are dying for a Roach family campout. Boat races are about the only thing keeping us tied down at the moment. It would be nice to know a weekend before this October so we can plan our FLip FLop Lemon Drop party and put the date in the auction book which is in November. We've usually done it the Thursday after boat races, but that's not set in stone and may be better changed for Brian's business!
Steady on folks!
I'm DOWN for camping, mostly because Uncle Mike said he was "DOWN"! John, not only did you bring the "elders" into the blogging era, you also got them to use words like DOWN.
Word up.
